...you are probably smarter than you think you are!
I once had a student who insisted on misspelling eastern as eastren despite my repeated corrections.
She told me that she thought she should type eastern, but her spelling checker didn't flag eastren as incorrect. I assured her that the software was mistaken, yet she ignored my feedback--and her own gut--and stuck with the incorrect spelling through the entire course.
Why? Because her computer told her to.
Have we really come to the point in our development where we are willing to subordinate our own intellect, wisdom, and visceral cues to computers?
Have we forgotten the axiom, garbage-in garbage-out (GIGO)?
You know, sometimes you've just gotta trust yourself...
...When you know in your mind, heart, or gut that what you are being told is wrong.
...When you know the idea you have is worth pursuing even though it has never been tried before.
...When you are in the minority simply because your cause is not popular.
Ask yourself:
- Have I trained myself to unwisely depend on people or things in spite of what my inner voice is telling me?
- Have I surrendered righteousness to follow the crowd just because that is the path of least resistance?
- Am I headed downhill simply because it is easier than climbing uphill?
- Am I abandoning my principles for the sake of popularity?
If you are traveling in the wrong direction and not trusting yourself, then STOP IT!
Trust the intellect, wisdom, and internal guidance with which you have been blessed.
